AFA Asks American Families to Boycott Pro-homosexual McDonald's
After trying for two months to persuade the McDonald's Corporation to reverse its support for the gay rights agenda, the American Family Association has called for a boycott of the popular restaurant.
When the hamburger giant put its Vice President of Communications, Richard Ellis, on the Board of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, the American Family Association asked McDonald's to reconsider.
According to the American Family Association's website:
Pat Harris, Global Chief Diversity Officer, Vice President, Inclusion & Diversity at McDonald’s, told AFA the company would “reaffirm our position on diversity.”
The National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce advocates for changes in laws regarding domestic partner benefits, "hate crimes" legislation, and inclusion of "gender identity and expression" in workplace legislation, among other controversial positions.
The AFA is a watchdog group that communicates information about corporate behavior and cultural trends to community activists and family values advocates. According to its website:
We believe in holding accountable the companies which sponsor programs attacking traditional family values. We also believe in commending those companies which act responsibly regarding programs they support.
The American Family Association has previously boycotted Ford and Disney, and credits pressure its members exerted on the Southland Corporation for that company's corporate decision to stop selling pornography in its stores.

If ever I get seriously rich first thing I'm going to buy is American Oxygen and all other such companies. I'll change their logo's to pink triangles, little leather caps, interlocking venus signs etc, get them to join up with the National Lesbian and Gay Chamber of Commerce, then I'll sit back and wait for the American Family Association to start their boycott on oxygen and do us all a favour.

McDonald's is free to endorse whatever political agenda it chooses. AFA and its allies are free to keep their money to themselves, or to give it to a company less inclined to use it to work against their interests. (Chik-Fil-A, for example.)
Just think of it this way. It's a matter of informed consumption. A person who works all morning helping send out a mailing soliciting funds to support a marriage protection amendment to the state constitution should know if going out to lunch that afternoon is going to work against them.
Total information. Your choice. Your call.

It was already working against them; They could get fat and have a heart attack. They shouldn't eat there period. Heck, it should REALLY be boycotted because of the unhealthy food.
More and more companies seem to be "pro homosexual" to remind yourself which ones to protest, I imagine you have to be organized, some of these folks must have an excel spreadsheet showing which unclean companies they should not purchase good and services from.
Imagine carrying that thing around...

SSE,
I can just about picture that. Some religious bigot walking around the grocery store with a 300 page print out of all the brands he/she can't buy.

Actually, once you have given the corporation a chance to reverse its position, THEN you take an action. And once you've decided not to go somewhere, most of us are capable of remembering not to go there.
I had no problem staying out of Walmart for a year, and for the same reason.
McDonald's is an easy one. There are hundreds of other places families can go. The competition is fierce, the food isn't that good for you. Kids will screech at first, but they get used to it. And Chik-Fil-A has great food, anyway. And guess what? We can make our own hazelnut iced coffee.

And it was really much harder when I was a corporation-boycotting liberal. Because there were so many corporations not to like.
The P & G boycott was a major pain because you didn't always know they made a particular product. And boycotting Domino's during college was sheer agony. But we pro-choice hardliners did it anyway. Not giving Tom Monaghan a dime to give to anti-choice protesters.
