Real Independence: Former Young Gay America Magazine Editor Still American, Not So Young Any More--and No Longer Gay

This Fourth of July marks a special kind of independence for Michael Glatze--the kind that no man can take away, but the gay rights lobby will no doubt try to deny. Michael Glatze has left the homosexual lifestyle for the freedom he has found in Christ.

Writing in WorldNetDaily.com, in an article simply called "How a Gay Rights Leader Became Straight," Glatze drops his bombshell in a way guaranteed to earn the ire of his former compatriots. The first sentence reads:

Homosexuality came easy to me, because I was already weak.

Now, I'm sure we all recognize what is wrong with this statement. It's judgmental, accusatory, and simplistic. The problem for the gay rights lobby will be dealing with the fact that it is also an autobiographical statement from one of the foremost opinion leaders in the young gay community for many years.

Further on, he asserts that:

Part of the homosexual agenda is getting people to stop considering that conversion is even a viable question to be asked, let alone whether or not it works.

and reassures the reader, that, yes, such a thing is possible, even desirable:

In my experience, "coming out" from under the influence of the homosexual mindset was the most liberating, beautiful and astonishing thing I've ever experienced in my entire life.

Glatze was the founding editor of Young Gay America magazine. His is the second recent high-profile conversion from the homosexual lifestyle by a member of the gay media. The gay community was stunned recently when Venus Magazine publisher Charlene Cothran declared herself a Christian and began writing articles like "Redeemed! 10 Ways to Get Out of the Gay Life, If You Want Out."

As those of us who are "social conservatives" rejoice with Michael on his independence day, let us remember that there are voices in our culture who seek to deny him the authenticity of his experience. As we pray for his strength to walk out the very public road ahead of him, let us also pray for those who will oppose and even obstruct him, that they, too, may someday find the truth.

Be mindful, as well, my fellow conservatives, of the damage being done to our young people by the constant pro-homosexual messages cascading over them on a daily basis. Hold your children close and be thankful that there is a man they can see who has found the courage to tell the truth about the consequences of choosing behavior God calls "sin."

In this "politically correct" day and age, they may well be harder to hear than ever before, but the voices of freedom still rise in America. People like Michael still have a First Amendment right to speak the (you'll excuse the expression) "inconvenient truth." Places like WorldNetDaily.com will still provide a platform for that speech.

And American children still have the right to choose not to accept the lies that the culture wants to feed them.

God bless, you, Michael. And Happy Independence Day.

Kerry,

I'd be curious if there is any evidence this guy has actually eliminated his sexual urge for men, and replaced it with one for woman. Is he married? Does he have children? To me giving up sex with men for Christ is equivalent to becoming a celibate monk. Like heterosexual priests you are essentially burying your sexual urges, not getting rid of them. And some people are quite successful at doing this, but many aren't. I wish the man luck (if he really believes he had a diseases), but I am ultimately suspicious of poster boys and trophies, and those who surround them and feed off them.
