Air America Goes Belly Up
Us conservatives have been telling you this would happen from the day this worthless excuse for a radio network hit the airwaves: Air America has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
NEW YORK Oct 13, 2006 (AP)— Air America Radio, a liberal talk and news radio network that features the comedian Al Franken, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, a network official told The AP.The network had denied rumors just a month ago that it would file for bankruptcy protection. On Friday, Air America spokeswoman Jaime Horn told The Associated Press that the filing became necessary only recently after negotiations with a creditor from the privately held company's early days broke down.
The network will stay on the air while it resolves issues with its creditors, Horn said. In addition to Franken, the network also features shows from liberal talk show host Randi Rhodes and syndicates shows from Jerry Springer and Portland, Ore.-based talk show host Thom Hartmann.
It's official folks: People just don't like the hate speech served up by commie-lib talk show hosts. The proof: The premier liberal talk radio network can't make it in the free market because people don't listen to their crap. You can only pay stations to carry your shows for so long before you go belly up and Air America reached the breaking point.
News flash to the commie libs: The idea of a radio network is to MAKE money, not lose it. Conservative talk makes money by the bucketful because it contains information presented in a way that people identify with and want to listen to.
There's a reason why Rush Limbaugh lives in a palatial estate in Palm Beach and flies around in a private jet -- it's because people want to listen to him.
There's also reason why Al Franken is a high-paid liability at a radio network that has to pay people to listen to it -- it's because he's a whining, sniveling piece of human debris who preaches liberal hate from behind a microphone and PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO LISTEN TO IT! Here's a suggestion for Al: In the interest of keeping his oh so important liberal hate speech on the air, he should do like the airline pilots and stewardesses (no flight attendants here) do and take a massive pay cut for the greater good of his organization. Fat chance!
My prediction: Liberal politicians will seize on the bankruptcy of Air America to proclaim that this is a prime reason why the Fairness Doctrine needs to be revived. Another prediction: Reviving the Fairness Doctrine will be one of the items on the liberal agenda in the next year should they win back the halls of congress.

Steve,
Does it say something about Franken and his content, or does it say something about the listener. I mean the crowd that loves and believes in Limbaugh and G. Gordon Liddy, are the same airheads that gave their money away to Jim and Tammy Faye Baker.
Lets see:
Limbaugh - a drug addict Liddy - a convicted felon The Bakers - felons

ahmanrah:
The results speak for themselves, and by labeling all of us realists as Jim and Tammy Faye lovers, your intolerant liberal bigotry is glaring through. You know -- "all conservatives are hayseed hick morons who blindly follow whatever the conservative flavor of the day is".
The left has no agenda and no message except hate. To wit: Rush is a Big Fat Idiot, Souless, what ever the hell else follows in Susan Estrich's stupid copycat book about Ann Coulter. The liberal agenda is all about hate: We HATE George Bush, we HATE Ann Coulter, we HATE Rush Limbaugh, we HATE Sean Hannity, we HATE G. Gordon Liddy etc etc etc and on and on. People don't want to hear this BS. They'd like to hear some ideas from the left but the problem is that the left can't run on their ideas: raising taxes, cutting and running in the War on Terror, granting Constitutional rights to terrorists, increasing spending on social programs etc.

Steve,
You all voted for Bush twice, that also speaks for itself.

Steve,
The other thing that makes me think what I do, is when I run across wonderful quotes in the news (unforunately I didn't save the one I'm thinking about, so I will paraphrase) from religious airheads.
There was a news article that was put out awhile back following one of the numerous polls discussing Bush's job approval rating. The article quoted two people. One was a republican who voted for Bush twice, but was asked if she would vote for him again if given the option. She said no, and gave a fairly detailed reason as to why she had changed her mind. It was something to do with the war, the economy if I remember correctly. And then they quoted some airhead woman that opitimizes my view of the far right religious nut.
Here response to the question about Bush and his job approval was that she was republican, had voted republican all her life, and it didn't matter how Bush governed she believed he'd been put in office by God, and therefore whatever he did, good or bad was fine by her.
I looked at her response and said to myself, this is a woman that would stand in the path of a train if someone she trusted told her to. It also reminds me of other religious crackpots I have listened to, that frankly couldn't take a crap in the morning, much less do anything else unless they thought God had some part in it. I'm sorry if I have this bias, but frankly I run across to many of these morons who can't think for themselves...that you really bring the image problem down on yourselves. And the fact that these type of people can and do vote...scares the shit out of me....because they are ripe candidates for manipulation.

Steve,
I love this quote so much I just had to post once more this evening. ;o)

"raising taxes" vs. versus Bush running up a massive national debt. Damn right. If living on credit has become preferable to living within ones means, we live in one fucked up world.
"running in the War on Terror" what you call running, I call getting ourselves back to the point where we can focus on the real terrorists - not staying bogged down in a country that had nothing to do with the war on terror before we turned it into a lawless hell hole.
"granting Constitutional rights to terrorists" Where are the terrorists? We haven't tried and/or executed a single one of them. Until charges are brought, and trials occur, you frankly can't classify anyone a terrorist. Which means innocent until proven guilty - a concept that seems foreign to you - despite the fact that you in a country that treat that as one of its cornerstones. If they are guilty lets have trials and summary executions for the guilty. Until then they are innocent and should be treated accordingly.
"increasing spending on social programs" I guess God never told you about giving charity to the poor and disadvantaged. What a shame....so Christian of you.

Air America was never about making money. weren't they subsidized by some rich liberals? their one goal was to defeat George Bush in 2004. they were completely devastated when that did not happen.
they apparently stuck around in an effort to "combat right wing talk radio". as if people who listened to Rush were now going to listen to Randi Rhodes and the rest of their America Sucks programming.

The idea was that given half a chance, mooonbats could be as successful as the conservative talk shows. I heard a lib on t.v. say the other day that there really isn't a big enough audience for them. The other way to look at that is to admit that most Americans are on the moderate to conservative side. You poor saps are so lonely and alone.

Lisa,
Keep dreaming. There could be lots of reason Air America isn't working. Liberal talk radio has never worked, even when Democrats held sway over congress for 40 years. My opinion is talk radio isn't a format that is going to reach liberals, for the very same reason that liberals don't find the need to congregate in churches every weekend, or listen to conspiracy theories on the radio contrived by ex-cons, and drug addicts. We are free thinking, independent intellectuals....who will make up our own minds, based on a free press of thousand of people that have standards, not a few individuals who stand up on soapboxes and bitch.

ahmanrah,
one (of the many) reasons Error America didn't work perhaps is because liberals already dominate the rest of the media so why do you need radio too? that reason though is secondary to the fact that no-one wants to listen to a bunch of whiners who bad mouth their own country.
by the way, liberals are the kings (queens???) of conspiracy theories
ahh yes, the old self proclaimed intellectual superiority argument from the left. funny how such smart people can't even figure out how to cast a ballot.

Ben,
Lets see. Which is better. Complain (or as I like to say...talk) about a country's problem, or throw up the big wall of patrotism and keep your mouth shut.
Oh and if Liberals are always the complainers, why are necons alway wanting to pass anti-abortion, anti-gay, flag burning and immigration bills. Each of these is a sign necons see "problems" about America that they want to "FIX". If trumpeting these amendment bills isn't whining I don't know what is.

Ahmanrah,
immigration is not a problem?
anyway, that isn't whining, that's playing to the base. Democrats do it too.

So , then, what are your "lots of reasons"? Admit it. It is not because you intellectually superior libs don't listen to the radio. Many of you tune in to Hannity and Rush, etc. every day. You just don't seem to want to listen to your own kind. How in the heck do you equate going to church with listening to talk radio? Are you trying to say that you free-thinking libs are so "independent" that you need no-one and nothing? You are above it all, are you? Bah, those pedestrian churches, and common folk! A pox on them I say! We, the liberal progressives, will rely on our truly honest and pure press that has absolutely no agenda. WE are the independent intellectuals, we make up our own minds, damnm it!!!!

Lisa,
The only reason I and probably most Liberals would ever listen to Limbaugh and Hannity, is for a good laugh, or to remind ourselves of the idiocy and ignorance we are up against.
Another thing that talk radio reminds me of is professional wrestling. They both attract large audiences, for a performance that is 10% reality and 90% B.S., and I have never figured out what the attraction either is.

Liberals listen to Rush and other conservatives all the time. They watch Fox news too. Then they proceed to complain about it. No-one listens to Error America.
