Fire the TWU

The Transport Workers Union behind the transit strike in New York City are costing the city of New York $400,000,000 per day. Their demands include an 8% pay raise and to be able to retire 10 years earlier than average joes like you and me.

GOP and the City put it nicely:

Estimated daily cost of a strike to the city - $400,000,000

Average Salary for a Subway/Bus operator - $62,000

Starting Salary for a NYPD Police officer - $25,100

Trying to get support from a public that makes less money (on average), will get less salary increases (3.5% versus the TWU's request for 8%), and will have to work over a decade longer (TWU retires at 55)....while making them walk to work in 25 degree weather - Priceless

In the tradition of Ronald Reagan's firing of the PATCO (Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization) strikers, the TWU deserves nothing less.

This nightmare for New York commuters is a perfect example why labor unions suck. They want more money, for doing less work, and want to retire with benefits a decade before those of us in the private sector.

The striking Transport Workers Union can go screw.

Fire them--let's see them try to get a job in the private sector, and if they can get one, let's see how long they last once they realize they actually have to do some work.

Good riddance, TWU, and the bill is in the mail.

GOP and the City continues to blog about the strike.
