And Alec Baldwin Said He'd Leave The Country...
Remember back in 2000 when all these celebrities promised to leave the country if George W. Bush was elected? Remember those same celebrities who didn't go anywhere?
I'm sure Helen Thomas, a veteran wire reporter, doesn't really plan to kill her herself if Dick Cheney decided to run for president, but she has indeed pledged to do so.
"The day Dick Cheney is going to run for president, I'll kill myself," she told the HILL. "All we need is one more liar."Thomas added, "I think he'd like to run, but it would be a sad day for the country if he does."
I think the likelihood of Thomas killing herself is as likely as you ever hearing that Alec Baldwin, Kim Basinger, Robert Altman, Eddie Vedder, Martin Sheen, Whoopi Goldberg and the countless other tolerant liberals who promised to emigrate would have moved out of the United States.
However, one less liberal wire reporter would be worth Cheney announcing his intentions to run.
Jonathan at GOP Bloggers says "Run Dick, Run!...At least she's not biased."
UPDATE 8/1/05: Helen Thomas is mighty PO'ed:
White House press doyenne Helen Thomas is plenty peeved at her longtime friend Albert Eisele, editor of THE HILL newspaper in Washington, D.C.In a column this week headlined "Reporter: Cheney's Not Presidential Material," Eisele quoted Thomas as saying "The day Dick Cheney is going to run for president, I'll kill myself. All we need is one more liar."
Thomas also said: "I think he'd like to run, but it would be a sad day for the country if he does," according to Eisele's column.
But Thomas said yesterday at the White House that her comments to Eisele were for his ears only. "I'll never talk to a reporter again!" Thomas was overheard saying.
"We were just talking -- I was ranting -- and he wrote about it. That isn't right. We all say stuff we don't want printed," Thomas said.
But Eisele said that when he called Thomas, "I assume she knew that we were on the record."
"She's obviously very upset about it, but it was a small item -- until Drudge picked it up and broadcast it across the universe," Eisele said.
Still, he noted that reporters aren't that happy when the tables are turned. "Nobody has thinner skin than reporters," Eisele said with a laugh.

If Helen Thomas's mother could've looked into the future and seen what an insufferable little troll her daughter would turn into, she might have used the liberals favorite medical procedure to rectify the situation. Oh, I forgot. It wasn't "the law of the land" until 1973. I know: This comment is exceptionally mean-spirited of me. But in the interest of fairness and accuracy, I believe it had to be said.

She's not going to make it to 2008 the way her senility is going

Steve:
Helen Thomas is the only woman I have ever seen uglier than Elenor Roosevelt. My Grandfather had a lot of Elenor Jokes, mostly about ugly.

so far the only liberal who seems to have accomplished his word was johnny depp who moved to..... "France!!!???" But well.... since liberal france doesn't seem to manage well with unemployment, Mr. Depp (now Willy Wonka) returns frequently to conservative America to work and get some money to spend in France.
Personally, i think he's a good actor as i think Eddie Vedder is a good singer (i saw him once fully drunken in tijuana).
It seems that artistic talents doesn't always fit in intelligent brains (drugs & alcohol do the rest)... so i don't give a damn if a hollywood bozo says he or she will quit america in 2008 if GOP wins, i'd worry if bill gates says so... but it won't happen.

Come on now Aaron....everybody knows that Bush was S-elected in 2000....thus giving Baldwin et al an "out" on their pledge. Didn't you see all them bumperstickers that said "Let's not elect W this time either" that idiots that don't understand the election process had on their vehicles? What a bunch of idiots.
However, I don't think there's even a remote chance of Cheney running......and I don't want him to.

Agree Sarge, Rudy Giulianni is a better option

Cheney is a great VP but I'm not sure he'd be a great P.

Helen Thomas looks like the mom from "Let's Throw Momma from the Train". O.K. I stole that from Glenn Beck, but be that as it may, she is quite the" literal "troll. Actually, if she were a decent, kindly lib, I wouldn't talk about her appearance. It's just that she is such a bitch.

Perhaps Baldwin was only "joking." You know, like when he said Henry Hyde should be stoned to death. What a great joke that was!

Hi Whoopi,
If your reading this and come over here we'll take care of you. We've already got Kevin Spacey, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow living here - David Schwimmer on the stage at the momment and I think Christian Slater's still here too right now. Ah you'd be fine.

Brit,
Are you aware of what your MP has been saying again?
"Two of your beautiful daughters are in the hands of foreigners - Jerusalem and Baghdad. The foreigners are doing to your daughters as they will. The daughters are crying for help, and the Arab world is silent. And some of them are collaborating with the rape of these two beautiful Arab daughters. Why? Because they are too weak and too corrupt to do anything about it...
It's not the Muslims who are the terrorists. The biggest terrorists are Bush, and Blair, and Berlusconi, and Aznar, but it is definitely not a clash of civilizations. George Bush doesn't have any civilization, he doesn't represent any civilization. We believe in the Prophets, peace be upon them. He believes in the profits, and how to get a piece of them. That's his god. That's his god. George Bush worships money. That's his god - Mammon."
You don't need more crazies over there....you're allready meeting the quota.
Thanks for the offer though. At the moment, we're planning on sending them to France, or Canada.
They deserve these nuts more.
At any rate...Doesn't that violate any of your sedition or incitement to violence laws or something?

Hi MJ,
Yes I read it an hour ago. Now as I've said before Gorgeous George does say things that are true sometimes and does represent a genuine legitimate strand of thought that should be aired. But bloody hell what a load of utter, utter, utter shite! On the BBC website it actually says "MP for Bethnal Green and Bow" which sent an embarrassed shiver through me.
On the law - no almost certainly not. This is an area that the police have specifically highlighted as needing improvement. They've suggested a law about glorifying suicide bombers or something like it. I hate laws against free speech, but it looks like we need something. I'm not sure Gorgeous George would fall foul of it, but certainly there are some who've got away with saying some very dodgy things. Don't forget this was said outside the UK, things said in Parliament are subject to parliamentary privilege ie they're often not subject to the law, he's a very canny politician and often when you look at the detail of what he says it's less severe than the headline writers make out so I'm not sure what he's saying should be illegal.
On Whoopi - I don't care/know what her politics are to be honest, I really have a soft spot for her (excluding The Colour Purple which was a great book and dreadful film but that was down to Spielberg).

I find nothing comical about Whoopi, and it is tough, tough, to look at her. As to the other "celebs", well, I am sorry for you Brit. They are all idiots, by the way, what an apt name Kevin Spacey has. Maybe it guided him along his path in life.
