Senator Harry Reid Calls Bush A 'Loser'

In a manner unbecoming a United States Senator, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid called President Bush a "loser."

Dem Senate Leader Harry Reid [NV] called the president 'a loser' today while Bush is representing the country overseas in Europe...
'I think this guy is a loser. I think President Bush is doing a bad job,' Reid said during a gathering in Vegas...

This kind of childish name calling is despicable behavior for a U.S. Senator. Regrettably, Senator Reid will walk away unscathed. Isn't it odd that Senator Trent Lott, who said a few kind words to a centenarian Senator on his birthday, is pressured into resigning as Senate Party Leader, but Senator Reid outright calls the President a "loser" and nothing even resembling a punishment ensues?

I hope I am wrong. For once, I'd like to see a Democrat receive their due for blatantly foul behavior. This is not to say that he can't criticize the President--however, if he's going to call the President a "loser" like a five-year-old would, rather than a Senator, then perhaps he should not be a Senator anymore. At a minimum, his leadership status in the Senate should be called into question and perhaps a demotion may be in order. This, just as his party demanded and got of Senator Lott.

UPDATE: Even though the liberal cheerleaders don't see anything wrong with Senator Reid's comments, Senator Reid realized he made a mistake.

Republican National Communications Director Brian Jones issued a statement calling the senator's comments "a sad development but not surprising from the leader of a party devoid of optimism, ideas or solutions to the issues people care about most."

After the statement was released, Reid phoned the Review-Journal to acknowledge he thought he crossed the line.

"You know the president is in Europe, probably sleeping," Reid said in an interview this afternoon. "But I called (Karl) Rove and apologized for what I said."

Harry Reid needs a mirror, a clue, and a good sharp blow to the head with a blunt instrument. Another Democrats head should do the trick.
