Democrats Filibuster Bolton Nomination

The other day, seven slimy saps made a deal with the weasels and jackals to "save the senate". What was it "an historic deal" a "bond of trust and cooperation"? Well piss on that, apparently.

Fox News is reporting that the Democrats have succeeded in holding up the Bolton nomination. Since Arlen Specter apparently left Washington for the weekend, the Republicans lack one vote of being able to invoke cloture and break the filibuster that the Democrats claim is not a filibuster. Since the Senate now stands in recess, a vote can't be set for Bolton until Tuesday, June 7th. Majority Leader Frist, switched his vote to the Democrat's side so that, being on the winning side, he could set another vote to occur before noon on Tuesday, June 7th.

Let's hope that Bush recess-appoints Bolton while the weasels, jackals and spineless Republicans are sucking up to their constituencies over the Memorial Day recess. (By the way, what do I have to do to get a week and a half off for Memorial Day?)

I just heard the chief weasel Harry Reid exclaim, "We're not here to filibuster Bolton we're here to get information on Bolton." Well what the hell have you been doing for the past two months? A filibuster by any other name is a filibuster.

Brit Hume made the comment that the Republicans are losing control of the Senate. How true and how sad. More on this later.

You, sir are an idiot.

Snappy retort there, Bushhater. But I consider it a compliment coming from you. Really creative handle you've got for yourself as well. Probably represents the extent of your ability to formulate an opinion.

Steve, give the kid some credit. At least it's a step above "I know you are but what am I?"

When did the Republicans ever control the Senate?

http://washingtontimes.com/national/20050527-121256-9924r.htm

"This is the first filibuster of the year, and maybe the last," said Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat. "I hope so." "It is a diversion, but it is not the fault of the Democratic senators that it is a diversion," he added.

soooo...it wasn't a filibuster before it was a filibuster?

Reid must be taking John Kerry gibberish classes.

Unfortunately for Bush's nominees, they're following the current rules of the Senate. Push the button Mr. Frist.

You can still make a difference! Call/email those Senators on the fence!

Dear Senator __________,

I am a life-long (Democrat/Republican/Independent) and am extremely disappointed in your decision not to vote in the affirmative for John Bolton. With the rampant scandals and frankly, general inneptitude of the insitution, he is exactly what the United Nations needs at this particular time. We don't need someone who will wince in the face of dictators, we need someone who will look them in the eye and say "Enough!" Furthermore, Mr. Bolton is a strong voice for Israel and had the courage to stand up against the disguting "Zionism = Racism" resolution at the U.N.

I implore you to reconsider your decision. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

[insert name here]

This is completely off topic, but I thought it was kind of funny anyway:

I guess masturbating really can make you go blind.

Allright...I was wrong. The 'deal' sucked big ass. It DID embolden the democrats, who now think that what they percieve as their political victory (I'm still not sold it is one for them, but the leadership seems to think it is) is now prompting them to be ever bolder in their obstructionism.

I hope they go too far. I bet they will too. Fillibuster 3 more judges, the first 3 after the ones in the deal, and then have the senate go 'nuclear'.

And yah, I'm hoping for a recess apointment for Bolton.

When will you ever learn, MJ. I voted for Reagan in 1980 and have been following politics fairly closely since the mid-to-late eighties -- the days of Tip O'Neil and Fort Worthless Jim Wright. They were suck-ass weasels back then, they've been suck-ass weasels since and they are even worse suck ass weasels and jackals now. They never will be anything better than that unless they start over with a new party. I'm beginning to think this is the solution for us conservatives as well -- we've got to break with the slimy invertebrates that claim to be on the right.

. They were suck-ass weasels back then, they've been suck-ass weasels since and they are even worse suck ass weasels and jackals now.

You really are a fucking moron.

You fucking spineless bootlicker.

Fantastic retort UY. It's a fact, Bud. You may not like it, but it's a fact:

1. They were weasels when they opposed Reagan's tax cuts which brought the economiy back from the Carter depression.

2. They were weasels when they opposed the military build-up that won the Cold War.

3. They were weasels when they opposed the missile defense concept -- another thing that turned the tide in our favor during the waning years of the Soviet Union.

4. They were weasels -- and wrong -- when they ridiculed Reagan as a doddering old actor.

5. They were weasels when the expressed dismay that Reagan had the balls to implore Gorbachev to "tear down this wall."

6. They were weasels when they credited Gorbachev with bringing about the end of the Cold War -- something he would have sooner cut his balls off than see happen.

7. They were weasels when they termed the slight recession brought about by George HW's tax hike -- something they favored -- as "the worst economy in the last 50 years"

8. They were weasels when the ran flaming socialist pigs for president in 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004 claiming they were moderates.

9. They are weasels for attemtping to rehabilitate the image of Hillary Clinton to make her look like a "moderate" so they can run her for president in 2008.

10. They are weasels for trying to paint fine, constructionist judges who are solidly in the mainstream as "extremists" and spin their radical lefitst agenda as "mainstream".

They're a bunch of frickin' weasels. How's it feel to be aligned with the party of the weasel? Screw the donkey (you'd probably love to do that). A jackal or weasel should be the Dems mascot.

I couldn't agree more with your 10 points Steve. However, I think the Demoncraps symbol is perfectly appropriate as it is - an ass.

And their followers (especially the leftist flotsam that posts here) are the products of ass.

"Extraordinary circumstances" clause......anyone to the right of Teddy is an extreme circumstance.

Posted by Sarge [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2005 11:17 AM

Bolton is not a judicial nominee which is what the lame agreement applied to. There are plenty of good reasons to continue debating the nomination and I'm sure you've heard them all and dismissed them in your mind.

Don't recess appointments only hold until the next session? Wouldn't that be in about a week? What would appointing Bolton now do? Is the only reason you guys are suggesting it for bullying purposes? Not that that would be surprising. That's what this admin (and repugs in general, from what I've seen) is all about.

I like how someone expressing how they'd rather have McCain in the White House makes them a liberal here. Freakin' ridiculous. Do you guys think ANYONE is allowed to have a different view from your's at all?

Posted by Losing Faith at May 31, 2005 02:14 PM

No, no we do not. You tow the party line or you get re-educated.

Don't tell them I said that.

It's a fact, Bud. You may not like it, but it's a fact:

Yeah since you say so its a fact, just like its a fact you are a right wing bootlicker with no respect for the truth.

1. They were weasels when they opposed Reagan's tax cuts which brought the economiy back from the Carter depression.

Reagans economy was good for the yuppies and those who robbed the Saving and Loans blind.

It was a bad time for working class people.

Reagan also ballooned his deficit and national debt.

2. They were weasels when they opposed the military build-up that won the Cold War.

So no Democrat ever had anything to do with fighting the Cold War?

No JFK nothing?

3. They were weasels when they opposed the missile defense concept -- another thing that turned the tide in our favor during the waning years of the Soviet Union.

Didnt work, doesnt work, likely will never work.

Heaven forbid you ever want to stop dropping money into a blackhole.

By the by your whole argument rests on the assertion that Reagan spent the Soviets into submission.

Then why do you try pass the back on your deficits and National Debts? Why do you try to pass yourselves off as fiscal conservatives when you clearly are not?

4. They were weasels -- and wrong -- when they ridiculed Reagan as a doddering old actor.

Well he was a very old former actor who was in the early stages of senility for who knows how long of his term.

5. They were weasels when the expressed dismay that Reagan had the balls to implore Gorbachev to "tear down this wall."

Honestly could not find a quote of an elected Democratic official showing dismay.

Maybe you confused it with the "We begin bombing in five minutes" joke. Little risque if you ask me.

6. They were weasels when they credited Gorbachev with bringing about the end of the Cold War -- something he would have sooner cut his balls off than see happen.

Um Perestroika, look it up.

7. They were weasels when they termed the slight recession brought about by George HW's tax hike -- something they favored -- as "the worst economy in the last 50 years"

It sucked pretty bad, but yeah blame the Democrats like the good monkey you are.

8. They were weasels when the ran flaming socialist pigs for president in 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004 claiming they were moderates.

Sure ok, ill answer that as soon as the orderly cleans up your spittle and adjusts your tinfoil hat.

9. They are weasels for attemtping to rehabilitate the image of Hillary Clinton to make her look like a "moderate" so they can run her for president in 2008.

She is pretty moderate, your opinion doesnt count since you are so obviously batshit insane.

10. They are weasels for trying to paint fine, constructionist judges who are solidly in the mainstream as "extremists" and spin their radical lefitst agenda as "mainstream".

Heaven forbid Democratic Party Politicians play politics! Only Redblooded Republicans can play politics!

They're a bunch of frickin' weasels. How's it feel to be aligned with the party of the weasel? Screw the donkey (you'd probably love to do that). A jackal or weasel should be the Dems mascot.

If I had to pick a Republican Party Mascot id pick a shit flinging monkey, a lobotomised monkey at that.

Failing that a dung beetle.
