Streisand: Free To Speak About Nothing

Sometimes, just for laughs, I'll surf on over to Barbra Streisand's website and have a read of her "statements". Today I read her quaint little article called "Fiction vs. Real Life", and found myself utterly in "shock and awe" of her thoughts. She starts in by referencing the supposed catastrophe of CBS not showing The Reagans, and how reality and fiction have become blurred. Blurred indeed.

She follows her "blur" thread by implying that many of the things stated by the Bush administration have been "distortions" of the truth. Her first alleged distortion: "The implication that Saddam Hussein was involved in September 11th..." Oh my, I wasn't aware that we needed a special reason to boot Hussein out of power. Isn't this the same dictator who gassed his own people? I think that maybe his poisoning of his own populace is enough justification to remove him forcibly. Her second alleged distortion: "the certainty that Iraq held weapons of mass destruction that could be activated within 45 minutes." I'll have to address this by posing a question. Would she rather that we just wait around until he Anthraxed a neighboring country or even his own people? With her statement in mind I think I've got a crackerjack of a slogan for whoever the lucky soul is who runs as the Democratic nominee for president: "Democrats and inactivity go hand in hand. Everything will be just fine if we ignore our problems." Her third alleged distortion: "the charge that Iraq was aiding al Qaeda terrorists." I'm sure it's completely possible that Babs' next door neighbor is an al Qaeda terrorist and he confided to her that the kindly old gentleman, Mr. Hussein, would never allow those ugly terrorists to train in his country. I work with Intelligence personnel & I can strongly suggest that even the mighty Barbra Streisand doesn't have the "need to know" to find out whether or not they had terrorist training camps in Iraq or that Hussein was sending them money via Western Union or Pony Express (maybe Camel Express).

I truly enjoy reading her website; she sure can spin a yarn. And to think, her article is titled "Fiction vs. Real Life". If she wants to support her country to win this war against terrorism maybe she should stop stabbing at the president; she isn't adding anything of value. It's like Wes Clark's arguments about how "badly" the whole Iraq ordeal is going; he won't tell anybody what he'd like to see done. See, no value there. Just interview after interview of pure, unadulterated whining. On the other hand, I'll keep reading Barbra's website because I know she'll continue to write from the far Left & make me laugh.

Pray for the troops.

I think Lara Ingraham said it best refering to these singers/artists when they try to get political: Shut up and sing!

That's the best advice Babs could get. She actually thinks we care what she thinks? I have her site bookmarked under "Comedy"

Gee it's not like we didn't know Saddam was an evil person, Its just that Bush and Blair implied he had ties with Al-Quaeda and the whole WMD thing. You just can't make up the reasons for a war after the fact, Shrub made his bed and has to lie in it.

Posted by Um Yeah at November 27, 2003 03:11 AM

so with your logic, Saddam's rape rooms and torture chambers should be operational right now??? WMDs was yet another reason to shove a missile in his ass.

What WMD?

Posted by Um Yeah at November 27, 2003 03:11 AM

They are there... don't worry... we'll find the rest.

Rest?

My favorite little Um Yeah is here to grace us with his/her presence again. You say "Rest?" like you don't understand what's being said. I said it in my atricle and I'll say it again here, in a slightly different fashion so you can fully grasp the idea: Hussein fired SCUDs (SCUD-C to be exact) at the Kurds. In these SCUDs (number unknown) were various lovely little chemical weapons, not the least of which being Sarin. Look it up, it's public information. Plain and simple. And there's no need for you to argue the point of, "What WMDs?" Remember, we made him destroy most of them in the first place. You remember... early to mid-nineties... weapons inspections... ONW & OSW in full swing to watch the No-Fly Zones.

Simply because you're a Democrat should have no effect on your ability to grasp the truth that's right in front of you. If I find more information that might be interesting I'll be happy to post it.

15 years ago, all that was gotten recently was a bunch of files. You know how you say we made him detroy them? NO SHIT, thats the whole damn point.

Posted by Um Yeah at November 27, 2003 03:11 AM

You say we destroyed them all... I don't care if we did.

Point being, they fully suspected he did plenty of hiding of his "good stuff" in the 90's, GW had to go with Intell that told him the crap was still floating around the country. You put the possibility of chemical weapons together with Hussein's psychotic ways (killing his own people) and what do you get? To me, that's plenty of a reason to go and bomb him. I hear from the Left about "we had him contained for years..." Contained, just lovely. Clinton would fire about $10 million in Tomahawks at Hussein to quiet him down for a few months and for whatever reason the Left is okay with that, all the while Hussein's starving and torturing his own people. Oh, but that's fine, as long as "he's contained" right? Not bombing Kuwait so it's okay. The Clinton "do nothing" policy didn't necessarily hurt the US in this case, but it surely hurt countless Iraqis. I only wish Bush-41 just blew off the international community and had the Army continue the drive into Baghdad; none of this would even be an issue now.
