About Matt

I spent most of my life not paying attention or caring much about politics. I grew up believing generally in ideas considered liberal. Hell, I was in Massachusetts, and did go to public school... What can you expect?

My political conservatism was the result of my desire for political awareness. Although most of my life was spent walking down a path that lead to liberalism, the map I was drawn to led me up the path of conservatism. I probably was always deep down a conservative, but it took some real introspection to really understand what I truly was.

At the University of Hartford, I was a widely read columnist for the Informer, which is the University of Hartford's student newspaper. In my column I discussed many sensitive issues regarding the university, causing some unrest on campus.

Besides university issues, I also took on the responsibility of being the voice of the campus conservatives by discussing national political issues on the radio on the student run radio station WSAM, and occasionally in my weekly column in the Informer.

After a successful and controversial year writing for the Informer, it was my hope that I could give the University of Hartford students who read my column an opportunity to hear me go into more detail on my views and opinions, as well as provide an opportunity for people to respond. After a year long run, the show was very successful and even won two SAMmy Awards from the radio station.

I graduated summa cum laude and with University Honors from the University of Hartford in May of 2002. Today I am pursuing a Masters Degree in Architecture at The Boston Architectural Center, as well as working full time at a small architectural firm in my area. I also host my own blog at MattMargolis.com.
